North West were the only unbeaten team still standing after the third day of the RCASA Inland Senior Week after half-centuries by Carl Moralo and Lyle Heilbron help them overcome Mpumalanga in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

Limpopo fell to a first loss of the week, while KwaZulu-Natal Coastal and Inland as well as Northern Cape both claimed victories.

But they all face a tough battle to keep pace with the hosts, who were just too good in match three.

Facing Mpumalanga, they won the toss and batted with Moralo top-scoring with 75 off 95 balls (7 fours) in a total of 234 for seven. Heilbron also shone with 66 off 95 balls (12 fours) leaving their opponents a target of 235.

And they never got close after losing their first six wickets with not even 100 on the board. James du Toit (51 off 89 balls, 4 fours) and Koketso Makwela (56 off 53 balls, 9 fours) did hit half-centuries, while Freedom Buthelezi added an unbeaten 48 that provided some respectability to the scoreline, but it was not enough – their side all out in 46.4 overs.

Limpopo, meanwhile, failed in their bid to make it three from three after they fell to a heavy 117-run defeat to KZN Coastal.

Ridwaan Malik Mlongo and Imtiaz Hatiya starred for the Durban-based side as they dismissed their opponents for just 87 chasing a target of 205.

Earlier, their side posted 204 all out thanks in the main to Ashley Lombard’s 46 and an unbeaten 37 by Acvetro Nadaben.

The reply lasted only 24.5 overs with Mlongo claiming three for 23 and Hatiya bagging three for 19.

In other action, Warren Humphries recorded an unbeaten 106 (89 balls, 13 fours, 4 sixes) – the only century of the week – to help KZNI oust Free State by 23 runs.

Finally, Jonathan Visagie was the pick of the bowlers for Northern Cape with three for 15 in an outstanding 6.4 overs as they overcame Gauteng by 75 runs.
