Cyril is the Central Gauteng Lions’ Stadium Manager. His primary responsibility is ensuring the world-class status of the Imperial Wanderers Stadium. Cyril joined the Gauteng Cricket Board in 2011.
Cyril is a highly experienced stadium manager having managed three of South Africa’s premium stadiums during his career, including the Imperial Wanderers Stadium, the Cape Town Stadium and the Newlands Stadium. While his primary responsibility has been ensuring that the stadium runs seamlessly on event day, he has also played a role in the upgrade of these facilities including the R16 million upgrade of Newlands Stadium.
Cyril has managed the stadiums over many significant large-scale sporting events including the 2003 Cricket World Cup, the Inaugural T20 World Cup (2007) and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He has also managed major concerts, including performances by Tina Turner, Gloria Estefan, Cliff Richard, Elton John Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart and U2.
Prior to his 14-year tenure at Newlands Stadium, Cyril was the Head of Department (Accounting) at Heathfield High School. He is a passionate cricket fan and was a selector for Western Province Cricket Association. Cyril holds a Level 3 coaching certificate with Cricket South Africa, one of the first two people of colour to have completed the certificate.
Cyril has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of South Africa and a Diploma in Sports Management from Damelin (with distinction).
