Johannesburg – The Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) congratulates the ten Provincial Players selected for the U19 Talent Acceleration Programme (TAP) inland camp running from 23-26 October 2020 at the Powerade Centre of Excellence in Pretoria.

CGL U19 and Framework coach, Siya Sibiya retains his role as one of the South Africa U19 assistant coaches and relishing the opportunity to once again work with the newly appointed SA U19 head coach Shukri Conrad.

“My relationship with Shukri goes all the way back to my days as a youngster at Western Province, we’re excited to start a new chapter and I will be using the experience from the [U19] World Cup to help guide the coach where I can, Its an exciting journey and fresh start for the programme”  Siya Sibiya commented

Sibiya is hoping the camp is an opportunity for the CGL players to progress and cement themselves in the National U19 programme, singling out Micky Copeland to be one of the leaders of the team moving on the next cycle.

Copeland, narrowly missed out on the U19 World Cup squad and feels he has improved and is ready to step up as one of the senior players in the young squad having been part of the programme previously.

“I’m really excited , really confident ,feeling like I could really dominate at the camp. I really want to make my mark and showcase my skill and push the standards. During lockdown I have lost about 5 Kilogrammes , being getting really fit and working on my batting.” Copeland concludes.
